Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association of Iredell County
The North Carolina Extension Master Gardener℠ program is a volunteer initiative that educates and empowers residents to cultivate healthy gardens, landscapes, and ecosystems through sustainable gardening practices. Established in 1979, the program operates under the guidance of NC State Extension and local Cooperative Extension centers.
The Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association of Iredell County is a group of trained volunteers who collaborate with the N.C. Cooperative Extension to provide research-based horticultural education to the local community. They organize various events and programs to promote gardening knowledge and practices.
Rooted in a love for gardening and a spirit of service, the Iredell County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association has grown from a small group of dedicated learners into a vibrant community network that cultivates both plants and people.
Our journey began with a simple goal — to share research-based gardening knowledge with neighbors and to beautify and strengthen our local communities. Over the years, volunteers have poured countless hours into demonstration gardens, educational programs, youth outreach, and community events that inspire others to dig deeper into the wonders of horticulture.
Through partnerships with N.C. Cooperative Extension, schools, libraries, and local organizations, our volunteers have taught sustainable practices, championed pollinator habitats, and guided residents toward more resilient landscapes. Each project tells a story — of learning, stewardship, and the joy of helping something grow.
Today, our Association continues to thrive on the dedication and passion of its members. Together, we plan, plant, and educate — nurturing a legacy of environmental care and community engagement for generations to come.
