Coloring My Town and Connect Iredell Announce ‘We’re All Connected’ Theme for Two 2027 Community Coloring Books
Many places. Many neighbors. One Iredell County.
STATESVILLE, N.C. (August 27, 2026) – After years of serving Iredell County, Coloring My Town has partnered with Connect Iredell to bring the community’s third local coloring book project to life. Centered on the theme “We’re All Connected,” the project will invite students and families to color, discover and connect with the people and places that make Iredell County home.
For the first time, the 2027 project will feature two distinct editions: Coloring Mooresville and Coloring Iredell-Statesville. Both covers will carry the theme “We’re All Connected” and the student invitation “Color. Discover. Connect.” The books will be created in coordination with Mooresville Graded School District and Iredell-Statesville Schools and are scheduled for distribution to local elementary school students in January 2027.
Every school, business, nonprofit, government agency and family contributes something important to Iredell County. As students color the pages, they will discover the people and places that help the community learn, grow, work and care for one another. The theme’s community call to action encourages families to turn discovery into connection, and connection into a stronger Iredell County: “Know your neighbors. Support your neighbors. Be a good neighbor.”
“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the Iredell County community and begin this exciting new chapter with Connect Iredell,” said Tara Wallace, vice president of Coloring My Town. “The ‘We’re All Connected’ theme captures exactly what these books are designed to do: help children discover their community, recognize the people who contribute to it and understand that each of us has a meaningful place in the same community story.”
Connect Iredell will lead the community effort, working with local businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, educators and community leaders to identify the people, landmarks, history and stories featured in each edition. Coloring My Town will oversee creative development, illustration and production.
The 2027 school feature, “Teachers Who Help Us Grow,” will celebrate the Teacher of the Year from each participating elementary school and the educators who help Iredell County students learn, belong and thrive. Teacher profiles may include the educator’s name, school, grade or subject , why they love teaching, a favorite children’s book, a fun fact and advice for students. Each school section will also invite children to draw or write about a teacher who has helped them grow.
“‘We’re All Connected’ is a natural extension of Connect Iredell’s purpose and the perfect framework for these two editions,” said Cindy Charlton Sutton, editor-in-chief of Connect Iredell. “From family-owned businesses and major employers to nonprofits, schools and public agencies, every participant contributes to the same community story. When children and families get to know and support their neighbors, we strengthen the connections that help Iredell County thrive.”
Local businesses and organizations will have opportunities to participate as featured community partners. Each participant will work with the creative team to develop a customized page that introduces students and families to its people, purpose and role in the community. Support from participating organizations and community sponsors allows the books to be provided free of charge to local elementary school students.
