Day 3 of SPD Summer Camp: Exploreing Police Work and Statesville’s History
Day 3 of SPD Summer Camp gave our campers a behind-the-scenes look at how the Statesville Police Department operates – and a journey through the city’s rich history.
The day began with a tour of SPD Headquarters. Campers met our hardworking dispatchers, got a firsthand look at the evidence room, and discovered how many different people and roles it takes to keep the department running smoothly. From communications to records, our team members enjoyed answering questions and sharing what they do to help keep the community safe.
After the tour, campers headed downtown for a special visit to the Statesville Historical Collection. Guided by Mr. Steve Hill and Dr. James Abell, they explored the people, places, and events that have shaped Statesville over the years. The tour was full of fascinating stories and local treasures that helped our young participants connect with the city’s past in meaningful ways.
It was a day filled with learning, curiosity, and connection – exactly what SPD Summer Camp is all about!
