SPD Summer Camp – Day 1 Recap: Games, Safety, and New Friendships

The first day of SPD Summer Camp is in the books – and what a great start it was!

From the moment campers arrived, the energy was high and the smiles were contagious. Officers and campers spent the morning getting to know one another, building trust, and setting the tone for a fun, engaging week ahead.

Officer Geyer led the day’s lesson on traffic and pedestrian safety, teaching campers the importance of staying alert, using crosswalks, and understanding basic traffic signals. It was an interactive and practical session, giving kids real-world knowledge they can use every day.

Of course, no first day would be complete without a little excitement – K-9 Joko made a quick appearance and immediately became the center of attention. With basketballs flying in every direction, Joko was ready to play right alongside the kids!

We were also excited to welcome our new SPD Jr. Ambassadors, who jumped right in and participated in the day’s activities. It was great to see them connecting with fellow campers and serving as positive role models.

From games and laughter to important lessons and new friendships, Day 1 set the stage for a memorable week. Stay tuned for more highlights as SPD Summer Camp continues!
