Did you know that hermit crabs are one of the most neglected animals in the pet industry, often being treated as a souvenir rather than a living creature.

They require specialized and specific care to live long, happy lives. With proper care, hermit crabs can live to be 50 years old!

Hermit crabs have complex social structures and Rescue Ranch is currently home to three - Gary, Squidward and Eugene. These boys are nocturnal and spend their evenings hanging out with each other, taking a dip in their pools (they have both salt and fresh water), running on their wheel, resting in their hammock and eating a wide variety of foods including animal proteins, fats, oils, fresh produce, calcium and more.

While they are not handleable animals, they are fascinating to observe and learn from!
