Fiber Optic Installation Planned in the Southern Area of Statesville

The City of Statesville has approved a Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit for Ripple Fiber to install underground fiber optic conduit and cable in the southern portion of Statesville. Federal regulations require public rights-of-way be made available for utilities such as fiber optic infrastructure. The City’s role in this process is limited to permitting, inspection, and oversight to ensure work is completed safely and restored properly. The City does not control construction schedules or promote specific service providers.

Construction Timeline

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, February 16, and is expected to continue through approximately May 30, weather and conditions permitting. Ripple will begin construction in Phase 1 and work through the remaining phases from north to south.

State-Maintained Roads

Ripple Fiber has already received approval from NCDOT to work along state-maintained roads. Construction is currently underway on Winston Avenue between Wilson Lee Boulevard and Shelton Avenue.

What Residents Can Expect

During construction, residents and motorists may notice:

  • Utility locate markings
  • Construction crews and equipment in the right-of-way
  • Directional boring operations
  • Temporary lane shifts or brief traffic delays
  • Short-term access impacts near active work zones

All disturbed areas will be restored in accordance with City standards.
